Ethan is having trouble grasping the idea of rhyming words. It's the one thing that really just hasn't clicked for him yet. So, we're working on it. He is just SURE everytime he thinks of one that he's finally got it. He says the combinations with such conviction that I can't help but just hug him and laugh.

Here's some of the hilarity that ensued:

Me: Let's do some rhyming words.
Ethan: Yea! What about........spoon......FORK!!
Me: No, those go together, but they don't rhyme....How about cat/hat/mat/bat/sat?
Ethan: What about......rock........nail! Not nails like you hammer, but your fingernails!!!!
Me: No, sorry.
Ethan: What about flower........DIES??
Me: Nope
Ethan: What about light........DARK!!
Me: No, those are opposites, but they don't rhyme.
Ethan: What about spoon.......SHOT!!
Me: Nope, try again.
Ethan: What about chair....hair?
Me: Yes!! You got it! Way to go!! High five!!
Ethan: What about moon.....spoon!!
Me: Yes! Great job!! (Thinking now we're onto something......)
Ethan: What about light.......HOUSE!!
Me: Nope. Those don't rhyme. They just go together.
Ethan: Hot.........COLD!!!!!
Me: No, those are opposites.
Ethan: Opposites?????
Me: Yep, opposites.
Ethan: Wig.........HAIR!!!!
Me: No, but what about wig. Can you think of something that rhymes with wig?
Ethan: Wig.....wig....wig...........RAT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Me: No, they don't sound the same.
Ethan: What about dogbone...........ICE Cream!!!
Me: Where on earth did that one come from?
Ethan: What about............. door...door...door.........WHORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Me: (Uncontrollable laughter)
Ethan: Door/whore......mom does that rhyme?? Did I do it?
Me: Yep, you did it. Those rhyme. (Still laughing.)
Ethan: Door/whore. Door/whore. Door whore. Those RHYME!!!!
